Combined with the reverse not having the speared olive bud, this demonstrates that this is a W-13 bisected date example. The SS Republic had a number of half dollars aboard, including 1861-O dollars minted under various governments; the US, the CSA, and the state of LA. This example is minted under the Confederate States of America, and is one of the most desirable varieties of this date!
